Google to Integrate Social Media Results into its Algorithm
Google has announced that it will integrate social media results so that they will now appear higher in the search results. So what does this mean – you will get even more information from the people that matter to you the most. Before, social search results would appear near the bottom now they will be interspersed between your results. Have a look at the pic below from Google own’s blog announcement:
You can see from the picture above that if you search for Mt. Kilimanjaro and your work colleague Matt has written a blog post about his own experience, then Google will make that post higher in the search results along with a note and a picture. Likewise, Twitter results are much more integrated now. So for example, if you’re searching for a video of President Obama on “The Daily Show” and your friend Nundu tweeted the video, it may show up higher in your search results. Also you will see a picture of Nundu along with a note. See the picture below also taken from the Google blog.
You can also connect your Google account with your Twitter, LinkedIn and various other accounts and decide whether to show this on your public profile or not.
