Could Microsoft Be Entering into the Social Networking Scene?

Published on July 19, 2011 by in Microsoft

If you went onto Socl.com last Thursday you would have noticed the following splash page (which has now been removed):

Could this be Microsoft’s secret project to enter into the social networking space? Especially considering Google+ has just come out. According to Eric Schmidt, the chief at Google, their new social networking platform Google+ has already reached 10 million users. Not a bad feat for a few weeks! But I’ll talk about that in another post.

Getting back to Tulalip, this will be interesting. Microsoft has taken down the splash page and replaced it with this “Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest” Hmmmm……it does look a bit suss. The domain name socl.com even suggests something to do with social.

Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes from it.
